The Faculty of Dentistry at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) recently hosted the American Dental Licensing Examination (ADEX), affirming its status as a licensed international testing center outside the United States. This milestone follows the faculty’s prior academic accreditation by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

Held under the auspices of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, the exam featured the participation of 25 interns and recent graduates from the university. Spanning four days, the assessment covered key clinical disciplines, including prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, restorative dentistry, and technical simulation.
Dr. Mark Armstrong, Chair of the Board of Directors for ADEX, emphasized that designating the faculty as a certified testing site ensures an objective and internationally standardized evaluation of clinical competence. “This milestone enhances the quality of dental education and helps protect public health by ensuring that only qualified practitioners are licensed,” he stated.
Dr. Abdulghani Mira, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, noted that hosting the ADEX exams reflects the university’s deep commitment to global professional standards. He also commended the university’s senior leadership and the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties for their support in enabling graduates to access an international assessment experience within the university’s facilities.
Participants noted the value of this experience in preparing them for postgraduate education and international dental practice. The initiative aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, supporting the development of world-class healthcare professionals and the expansion of international academic collaboration.
